5 Arrested In Connection To Southbridge Armed Robbery
Yesterday afternoon at 4:30pm a male subject approached an off-duty Southbridge Police officer in the parking lot of Cumberland Farms and reported that he was just held at gunpoint after buying marijuana for a friend. Police were immediately dispatched to the scene to investigate.
While officers were responding to the scene they were advised that the suspect had just fled the scene in a silver Saturn Ion and was now traveling on Worcester Street with four other occupants in the vehicle. The off-duty police officer was able to closely follow the suspect vehicle until officers were able to conduct a motor vehicle stop in the area of Worcester Street and Brookside Road.
Officers approached the vehicle and identified the operator as 18 year old Aziz Sawadogo. A passenger in the front seat identified as 19 year old Heriberto Lopez was then asked to exit the vehicle at which time a silver .22 caliber Derringer firearm was recovered. Three other passengers were in the back seat of the vehicle and they were identified as 20 year old Daniel Silverio and two juveniles. An amount of marijuana was also recovered and two of the suspects attempted to provide officers with fake names.
During further investigation it was determined that all 5 suspects had been involved in the robbery and they were all transported to police headquarters for processing. As a result the following were charged: 20 year old Daniel Silverio of 22 Dover Street Apartment #2 in Worcester was charged with conspiracy to commit a crime to with armed robbery, armed robbery, aiding and abetting, and kidnapping, firearm aiding and abetting. 19 year old Heriberto Lopez of 10 Glade Street in Worcester was charged with unlawful possession of a firearm, armed robbery, joint venture, and kidnapping, firearm; joint venture. 18 year old Aziz Sawadogo of 42 South Lenxon Street in Worcester was charged with conspiracy to commit a crime to with armed robbery, providing a false name, unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, armed robbery, aiding and abetting and kidnapping, firearm aiding and abetting.
A 16 year old juvenile from Worcester was charged with armed robbery; joint venture, kidnapping, firearm and conspiracy to commit a crime to wiht armed robbery. A 17 year old juvenile from Worcester was charged with conspiracy to commit a crime to with armed robbery, armed robbery; aiding and abetting, kidnapping, firearm aiding and abetting, providing a false name and held on a Department of Youth Services warrant.
One of the juveniles was released to a parent and the other juvenile was released to the custody of the Department of Youth Services. Silverio, Lopez and Sawadogo were all held on bail awaiting release or their arraignment in Dudley District Court today.
