Charlton Police responded to City Depot Road for a disturbance on Monday, March 26th.  While on the way to the scene they were informed that one of the involved individuals, later identified as Tyson Loftus, fled into the woods near the residence and may be armed with a gun.

Officers entered the wooded area, and found Loftus walking back toward them.  After securing the suspect, police followed Loftus’ footprints in the snow and led them to a discarded AR-15 rifle.

Charlton Police say Loftus did not have an active firearms identification card or license to carry.  As a result of the investigation he was placed under arrest on charges of threatening to commit a crime to wit murder, unlawful possession of a large capacity firearm, unlawful possession of a large capacity feeding device, and unlawful possession of ammunition.

He was arraigned in Dudley District Court on Tuesday, March 27th and held without bail.  He will return to court for a dangerousness hearing on March 30th.
