Dudley Students Meet ‘Officer Friendly’
Dudley Police Chief Steve Wojnar has officially kicked off a new year of visiting local schools as “Officer Friendly.”
The Chief recently visited a kindergarten class at the Mason Road Elementary School to have lunch and interacti ith the students at the school in an informal way. During his time there Chief Wojnar explained his job and police work in general, and provided a few safety tips. The goal of this program is to minimize the fear and apprehension children may have about the police.
In a press release, Chief Wojnar said, “By meeting with the children in a casual manner, the program tries to provide students with a positive image of police officers and an overall understanding of police work.”
Chief Wojnar has participated in this program for approximately 20 years and tells us that he truly enjoys the time spent with the children.
