Fiery Crash In Spencer Leaves 1 Dead, 2 Injured

Spencer Police are investigating a fatal car crash that took place on Route 49 Friday night just after 9:30PM. It is believed a 2012 Buick sedan travelling north on Route 49 drifted into the southbound lane and struck a 2012 Toyota truck head-on sending the truck off the road as it burst into flames.
The driver of the truck and passenger of the car were taken to local hospitals with serious injuries. The driver of the car, 25 year old Cole Victor of Spencer died at the scene.
A portion of Route 49 was closed for nearly 5 hours while accident reconstruction crews investigated and debris was cleaned from the roadway. Spencer police say that several good samaritans stopped after the accident and assisted the driver of the burning truck out of the vehicle safely.
