On Friday January 18th, at around 12:30AM, Worcester Police attempted to pull over a gray Jeep that failed to make a complete stop at the corner of Wellington and Chandler Streets.

Police say the vehicle initially sped up before taking an abrupt turn into the BP Gas Station at 30 Chandler Street.  The officer noticed the driver of the vehicle, later identified as 26 year old Anthony Wilson of Oxford, frantically reaching in the area of the glove box.

After an awkward interaction with the driver, the officer was concerned that Wilson might be concealing a weapon.  He returned to his cruiser and waited for additional officers to arrive.

Once the driver was out of the vehicle, officers located a loaded handgun in the glove box, even though he did not possess a license to carry a firearm.

Anthony Wilson was placed under arrest and was charged with carrying a loaded firearm without a license, possession of ammunition without an FID card, and a stop sign violation.  He will be arraigned in Worcester District Court.
