Just 3 days earlier, Police in Southbridge arrested a man for driving over 100 miles per hour on Pleasant Street in that town.  On Friday it was Oxford’s turn.

On June 29th, just after 8:30PM police in Oxford witnessed a vehicle estimated to be travelling at 100 MPH on Main Street in the area of Clara Barton Road.

Police say “The vehicle got caught up in traffic on Depot Road and the driver bailed.”

Members of the Massachusetts State Police and Environmental Police assisted in a brief search to locate a 37 year old Rutland man who was arrested a short time later near 578 Main Street.

The driver’s name was not released, but he is being charged with reckless operation of a motor vehicle and failure to stop for police.

The speed limit on Main Street goes from 35 miles per hour up to 45 miles per hour.
