Andrew Conant, Webster Police

Just after 9AM on Wednesday February 6th, Webster Police were dispatched to the parking lot behind Dunkin’ Donuts on Main Street for what was described as a possible drug transaction.

Upon arrival, Officer Timothy Moran noticed two vehicles, one of which was occupied by 30 year old Andrew Conant of Southbridge.

Police say Conant was in the car with three other females, including a 17 year old juvenile.  He admitted to police he had just been smoking marijuana in the parking lot.

As Officer Moran was identifying the occupants of the car, the juvenile needed to retrieve a backpack from the trunk. Upon opening the trunk, a plastic bag containing what appeared to be a pound of marijuana was discovered.

Conant was subsequently arrested for possessing a class D substance with the intent to distribute.  Police say he has previous convictions for the same offense.

In addition to finding a digital scale and plastic baggies, police also located was a pair of brass knuckles, so he was also charged with possession of a dangerous weapon.

A separate complaint will be filed in juvenile Court for contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

Conant was released on $240 bail and will be arraigned at Dudley District Court on February 7th.
