Just before 6 PM on Tuesday, July 30th, Troopers assigned to the Massachusetts State Police Sturbridge Barracks observed a gray Honda Accord speeding on Route 84 through Sturbridge.

The vehicle was observed traveling 65 miles per hour in a posted 50 mile per hour zone.  Once the driver was pulled over, 28-year-old David Baez-Vega of Springfield, gave consent to search the vehicle.  Police say as a result of the search, over one kilogram of a substance believed to be cocaine was found tightly wrapped in plastic.  Baez-Vega was arrested and the vehicle was towed from the scene.

The suspect was released on $2,500 bail and was arraigned today at Dudley District Court on charges of trafficking in cocaine and speeding.
