Webster Area Memorial Day Parades

Memorial Day Weekend is here, and to most people it is the unofficial start to Summer, but it is more than just cookouts and an extra day off.  It is a day designed to honor the men and women who died while serving in the U.S. military.

The following communities will experience some road closures from time to time this weekend as area parades take place.

WEBSTER

In Webster there will be a Memorial Day Parade on Monday, May 28th starting at approximately 1030 AM, concluding with a ceremony at the court of honor.  The route will start at Tents for Rent and continue from Old Worcester Road, to Route 12, to East Main Street, onto South Main Street, concluding at the town hall.  These roads will be closed periodically during this time.  The ceremony is expected to begin between 12 and 12:30.

DOUGLAS

The town of Douglas will close roads as their parade will begin at 1:15 on Sunday, May 27th.  The parade will begin on Main Street between Depot and Franklin Street.  Closures will involve several different locations through downtown and will occur intermittently for several hours. Officers and detour signs will be in place to assist you with navigating around the route.

THOMPSON
The Thompson Memorial Day Parade steps off from Town Hall at 9AM.

OXFORD
Oxford Fire-EMS Honor Guard will be hosting a parade in the center of town from 8AM-11AM.

SOUTHBRIDGE

A 21 gun salute will begin at Southbridge Town Hall at 8:15am on Monday, May 28th, with a parade following at 9AM.   The parade will then proceed from Elm Street to Main, turning down Hamilton, Hook and North Streets before returning to the Southbridge Fire Department.

AUBURN

The Chester P. Tuttle American Legion Post 279 is hosting their annual Memorial Day Parade and duck race.  The parade will begin at 10AM on Monday at the corner of Auburn Street and Bryn Mawr Avenue.

CHARLTON

Charlton’s annual Memorial Day parade will be held, rain or shine at 2PM on Monday, May 28.  Participants will march to the Town Library from Overlook Health Center.

EAST BROOKFIELD

A Memorial Day parade will begin at 11AM at the Memorial Town Complex on Connie Mack Drive.  The parade will travel east on Route 9 to Evergreen Cemetery, where a service will be held. The parade will continue down Main Street to Pleasant Street, with closing ceremonies at the Veterans Memorial at Depot Square.

NORTHBRIDGE

The Northbridge Memorial Day Parade begins at 10AM on Church Street in Whitinsville.  The parade progress to Memorial Common for continuation of services.  In case of inclement weather the services will be held at Northbridge High School beginning at 10 a.m.

PUTNAM

The annual Putnam Memorial Day Parade will step off at 10AM on Monday beginning at Grove Street.

UXBRIDGE

Parade steps off at 9AM from Whitin Elementary School.
