Just after 4AM on Monday, December 10th, Worcester Police were called to Cumberland Farms at 263 Grafton Street for a report of a person with a gun.

The man, later identified as 40 year old Juan Lopez of Dudley, was allegedly showing off the gun to people and bragging that he did not need protection, according to police.

Officers spotted a male who matched Lopez’s description on Grafton Street and he took off running when approached.  After a brief foot pursuit, the officers located him on Cutler Street with a black loaded handgun nearby.  Worcester Police say Lopez did not have a license to carry firearms.

He was placed under arrest and charged with possession of a firearm without a license to carry, possession of ammunition without an FID card, armed career criminal level 3, receiving a firearm with a defaced serial number, intimidation of a witness, disorderly conduct, and improper storage of a firearm.

Lopez will be arraigned in Worcester District Court.
