Sturbridge Man Arrested On Drug Charges In Southbridge
On Wednesday January 31st around 7:30PM, Detectives from the Southbridge Police Department were conducting surveillance in the area of Mechanic Street. Police observed a vehicle idling on Mechanic Street near Rose Street with an unknown male in the driver’s seat.
Detectives then observed a male subject (identified as 29 year old Talon Asquith) approach the vehicle and get into the passenger seat. Detectives observed the pair travel down Mechanic Street and drive a short distance before returning and pulling over in the same location where he had entered the vehicle. Asquith quickly exited the vehicle and the operator left the area.
Detectives suspected that a drug transaction had occurred. They uickly approached Asquith, who has a past with police because he was recently arrested for trafficking in cocaine. During further investigation, a glass pipe with suspected cocaine residue, a digital scale and $734.00 in cash were recovered. Asquith was placed under arrest and transported to police headquarters.
During the booking process, Asquith was attempting to conceal additional hidden items and a more thorough search was conducted. A clear plastic bag containing crack cocaine and a second bag containing a white powdery substance were recovered.
29 year old Talon Asquith of 70 Breakneck Road in Sturbridge, MA was charged with possession with intent to distribute cocaine and possession of crack cocaine. He was held at Southbridge Police Headquarters pending his arraignment in Dudley District Court on Thursday February 1st.
