The latest winter storm has brought heavy wet snow to the area, and that has led to reports of low hanging power lines, trees down across roads and several thousands of homes without power.

As of 10PM on Wednesday night there are at least 4,000 people from Sturbridge to Douglas in the dark, and nearly 10,000 people in the state without power.  We also have received a report of a tree down across Sutton Road in Webster.

As of 8AM on Thursday morning 74 percent of the town of Oxford is without power.  The Oxford Library on Main Street has been designated as a warming center.

National Grid had originally estimated power would be restored to most areas by midnight last night, but that did not happen due.  To report a power outage click here for National Grid.  Live outage map updated every 15 minutes is located here.

Thompson’s Emergency Management Facebook page reports there are about 1,000 homes without power there.  Everource will not be restoring power until all 911 calls are complete.  If there are trees down blocking roads you are asked to e-mail sbenoit@thompsonct.org
