A routine traffic stop was anything but routine in Sutton this week.

While officers were performing radar on Central Turnpike on Wednesday afternoon, Patrolman Bryan O’Rourke spotted a vehicle traveling over 60 mile per hour in a 35 mile per hour zone.

The officer tried to pull the vehicle over, but it took off leading police on a short chase.  The driver of the vehicle left it on Purgatory Road and 3 men fled on foot.

Other officers joined in on the search and found Isaiah Reels of Warren, RI who was arrested and charged with failure to stop for the police and several other motor vehicle offenses.

Sutton Police later found out the vehicle did not belong to the trio and the owner did not even know it was missing.  Several hours later, a second male was found and taken into custody.

Michael Reels, who had an active warrant, was also charged with one count of use without authority for his role in this incident.

The third man is still on the loose.  Sutton Police say “don’t worry, we’ll catch him….because that’s what we do.”
